XX Commonwealth Games

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is much more than a sporting event – it is an opportunity for businesses, organisations and communities across Scotland to benefit now and in the future.

Economy
Business opportunities worth more than £50 million are to be generated over the next six months. From construction to catering, businesses across Scotland are already winning contracts resulting from the Games. Spending on construction and refurbishment of Games venues and the Athletes’ village now supports around 1,000 jobs per year.

Physical Activity
One of the big aims is to inspire more Scots to get active. Active Schools gives every school age child the chance to take part in over 70 activities. New and improved Games venues already welcome the wider public, and Community Sports Hubs and the Active Places Fund are ensuring there are more community facilities to meet the growing demand.
