Commonwealth Youth Games Team Selected

The Bahamas is set to send a contingent of six athletes to the Isle of Man next month to compete in the Commonwealth Youth Games.  Two cyclists and four track and field athletes will represent the Bahamas from September 7th to the 13th.

The Commonwealth Youth Games were first held in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2000 as part of millennium celebrations, and have been held every four years since (this year’s event was pushed forward to avoid clash with London 2012).  Not only will the Games provide young Bahamians with the opportunity to compete at the international level, it will also be a tremendous opportunity to experience different cultures.  Part of the program at the Youth Games includes a visit by the team to a local school in Isle of Man.  After the competition is complete, the final day of the Games will be dedicated to a joint Cultural Day and Closing Ceremonies.

The team will be lead by Chef de Mission Roy Colebrook, and Deputy Chef de Mission Tonique Williams-Darling.  Team members include:

Jay Major Cycling Time Trial, Road Race, Criterium
Roy Colebrook Jr.    Cycling Time Trial, Road Race, Criterium
Gregria Higgs Track and Field 100m
Anthonique Butler Track and Field Triple Jump
Julian Monroe Track and Field 400m, 4 X 100m Relay
Anthony Adderley Track and Field  200m, 4 X 100m Relay

Best of luck to Team Bahamas in Isle of Man!
